I just got the September edition of “Water Lines“, Mount Pleasant Waterworks newsletter, and they have a great list of water saving tips that I thought I’d share. And I have to say, I love the fact that an organization that makes money from the amount of water we use is encouraging us to conserve. That’s like Publix running ads on how to eat less. Good stuff.
- Watering the lawn uses 1000 gallons per hour, so try to cut back.
- Defrost food in the fridge, instead of under warm running water.
- Wash your vegetables in a partially filled pan, not under running water.
- Compost instead of using the garbage disposal.
- Reduce water usage by 20-25% by using low-flow fixtures.
- Use a broom instead of a hose to cleanup outside.
- Fix leaky faucets, toilets, and spickets.
Happy conservation!
